Anne, as we call her, married our second son, James. She was born
in Westmoreland County, adjoining Allegheny County, and is a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Ansel, a part time farmer, with business interests
in Turtle Creek, Allegheny County.
Following her graduation from the Union High School, in Turtle Creek,
she became identified, as a clerk, in the Turtle Creek offices of
the Mellon National Bank and Trust Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. Located
across the corner was a pharmacy where James was the pharmacist. Anne
and James met, and it is now Mr. and Mrs. James Shaver with four children
blessing their home.
David Ansel, her remotest ancestor, arrived in America in 1751 and
settled along the Delaware River. His son, Martin Ansel, served in
the Revolutionary war as a private, 2nd.class, 67th. Battalion, Lancaster
County Militia. Johann Ansel, her grandfather, was an extensive farmer
in Central Pennsylvania.
On September 18, 1950 she was married to James who furnished their
home in Monongahela, Pa., where he is a partner in a pharmacy [in
1958]. Their family consists of two boys and two girls.
