Her earliest American ancestor, on the paternal side, was a member of the Continental army during the Revolutionary War, he having come from Norway a few years previous. He served as a Private in the York County Militia. Betty is of a happy-go-lucky disposition, contrasting from the quiet and serious attitude of her husband, but the two different dispositions dovetail into a happy and cheerful family.
